Day 135 – Buddha Mountain Cave
We were trying to check email and do some
things on the internet, but for some reason, we weren’t getting any signal this
morning. It was really frustrating. David mopped the floors and we did some
things that didn’t require the internet, but finally ran out of things to do,
so we had lunch and then called up Wayne Clarke to see if he could take us to
where the cave was on Buddha Mountain so we could see it.
We got off the bus and waited for
Wayne. We were at the wrong spot, so we
had to walk up a street and over to find him at the entrance. There weren’t many people there today. We got to the place where you buy the tickets
to go into the cave and Wayne didn’t go with us because he has seen it twice
before.
The cave extends for about .5 kilometers
into the mountain. It got warmer and
warmer and damper smelling as we walked further back in. There were thousands of Buddha in there. Little places where they were carved in
niches and big one and gold ones and broken ones and caped ones! There were places where the path split in two
and you had to decide which way to go, so sometimes David took one path and I
took the other and they all met at the same place. At the end was one huge gold Buddha with red
lights and two guards that were stationed there.

Part of the cave. It was hard to get good pictures with my little camera and the lighting they had. |

The prettiest Buddha. She stood over water and had lots of fake flowers around her. |

The big Buddha at the end of the cave. |
After we got back, we went over to the canteen
and had some supper. We used up six more
of my meal credits. We will try and use
up the rest of them tomorrow for lunch and dinner because they are only good
through the 10th of January.
David tutored Alan tonight and I tried to
do some more work on the internet, but once again, it is slow and not
cooperating. Sigh…
