Day 134 – Grades Submitted!

Eva was supposed to come to campus about 10 so that we could get my grades submitted to the office, but she wasn’t able to get here until about 11:15, so we just did things here until she called.  It took about 20 minutes to get all the papers signed and in the right order and then put in a special folded box with the right label on the front and then put in at the office.

After all that was done, we went to lunch at the teacher buffet with Eva, Tom, and three other teachers.  They have all heard about the banana cream pie and they all want a taste.  It was a nice lunch.  Eva and one of the other teachers came with us to the place where we order the food to be eaten in the reserved room that we have for the other BYU teachers.  While I was doing that, Tom and David were having quite the talk.  Tom was under the impression that most Americans just stuck their aging parents and grandparents in rest homes and didn’t care for them after that.  He was glad to hear that we were more like the Chinese who care for their aging parents as best they can in their own homes.

Then we came back to the apartment and finished watching “Planes.”  Pretty fun movie!  It took a long time though because we had to wait and wait for parts to download.

At 6:15, we hurried over to the canteen and met the Pace’s there to try and get the food paid for with their meal tickets before the others got there, but we were still having a language barrier problem.  Just as we were trying to call Eva for some help, Lily (Jin Li) came off the elevator and she was able to help us get them to understand what we wanted to have happen.  It still took about 15 minutes to do, but by then the others had arrived and we were able to have an enjoyable meal.  We took home all the leftovers.  There maybe wouldn’t have been quite so much except Libby was not feeling quite up to going out with her cold and Pam had computer problems and someone was coming over to help her.  It all added up to a nice evening though.
