Day 259 – Happy Mother’s Day in China

I got up early and got myself ready so I could start having video chats with the kids.  The internet was having a few problems, so it took a while to get on and that put me behind in the schedule for talking to the kids.  Kadie’s family was first, then Alisa and then Seth’s family and then we had a short time to visit with Ammon before we had to leave for the hospital.

We took a taxi to the hospital so that I could have a blood test done to see what the Warfarin was doing.  The number went down which is not good.  It needed to either be the same or go up, not down.  I don’t know if it was some of the foods that I ate this week or if I just need more of it.  Frustrating!

We were a little late for church because Dr. Tricia wanted to talk some more.  She sure tries to get us to talk about religion.  We would love to say some things, but we are bound by our contracts not to.  Another hard thing.

Today was District Conference with Elder Gong presiding.  It was a good meeting.  We had a Mother’s Day dinner afterward.  Lots of yummy food.  Summer, a former student of the Despains, who taught at Shandong Normal College last year, had met Kathy when the Despains were visiting here last week.  She and Kathy have been talking since they met and Kathy says that she wants to learn more about the Church.  That’s exciting, but we can’t be the ones to talk to her.  She is Chinese National and, once again, we just can’t talk to her.  I don’t know if Kathy expected us to say anything, but it was fun to meet Summer and we invited her again.  We didn’t stay long today because I was feeling really tired from a late night and an early morning.

We went for a walk around the campus this evening.  The rain has stopped and left the air so clean and everything smells wonderful.  There are several places to walk on campus where it seems just like you are walking in a wooded area, so it was really pleasant to be out and about tonight.
